Prepare the Vehicle
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
- Lift the front of the vehicle using car ramps and jack stands to
access the oil pan.
- Put on nitrile gloves.
Drain the Old Oil
- Place a drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
- Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine, to
allow increased drain flow.
- Use a 14 mm socket wrench to remove the drain plug and allow the old
oil to completely drain into the pan.
- Replace the drain plug crush washer with a new one.
- Reinstall and tighten the drain plug to a torque of 30 lb-ft.
Replace the Oil Filter
- TODO: read the instructions in the filter box.
- Locate the oil filter housing under the vehicle.
- Use an oil filter wrench to remove the oil filter housing cap.
- Remove the old filter element and replace it with a new one.
- Install a new O-ring on the filter housing cap, lubricating it with
a little bit of new oil.
- Reinstall and tighten the oil filter housing cap to a torque of 18
lb-ft .
- Wipe off any spilled or leaked oil.
Add New Oil
- Pour approximately 4.7 quarts of new synthetic motor oil into the
engine.
- Replace and tighten the oil filler cap.
Check Oil Level
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, then turn it
off.
- Wait a few minutes for the oil to settle, then check the oil level
using the dipstick.
- Add more oil if necessary to reach between the “Min” and “Max” marks
on the dipstick.
Finalize
- Check for any leaks around the drain plug and oil filter
housing.
- Lower your vehicle from ramps or jack stands.
Reset the oil maintenance dash light
Switch the Display: Turn the ignition key to the
“On” position without starting the engine. Use the “DISP” button on the
steering wheel or dashboard to set the display to “Trip A” on the
odometer.
Turn Off the Ignition: Once “Trip A” is
displayed, turn the ignition key to the “Off” position.
Reset the Light:
- Press and hold the “DISP” button.
- While holding the button, turn the ignition key back to the “On”
position (do not start the engine).
- Continue holding the “DISP” button until you see a series of dashes
appear and then disappear, followed by zeros on the display.
Verify Reset: Release the button and start the
vehicle to ensure that the maintenance required light has been
reset.
Additional: Check the engine air filter and replace if
necessary
Additional: Check the cabin air filter and replace if
necessary
Additional: Fill windshield wiper fluid
reservoir with Rain-X 2-in-1 All Weather wiper fluid
(orange)
Additional: Check tire pressure and inflate as
needed.
Additional: Check windshield wiper blades for
wear and replace if needed.
